Requirements
I recommend, as a minimum, a 386 PC compatible with a hard drive, floppy drive, and EGA/VGA color monitor. The PC must be dedicated to the ARSA task. Running ARSA in a multi-tasking environment, such as Windows, does not work well since the required voice mail board, a Powerline I, has no on-board buffering. This is not really a drawback since 386/486/Pentium machines are very cheap (or free!) and the price of the voice mail board is relatively low. Just make sure you have a reliable hard drive and a few megs of RAM (for running a disk cache program). Also highly recommended is an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which also protects against power line spikes and surges and a spike suppressor for the telephone line. |
